General Description:
The Director of Development will be responsible for designing, implementing and managing a multi-year comprehensive, proactive development plan to support the vision, mission and goals of the Trust. Efforts will include expanding and enhancing corporate and foundation relationships, staffing a Development Committee on the Board of Directors, maintaining a proactive, creative leadership role in the identification, cultivation and solicitation of individual, corporate and foundation annual contributions, preparing and managing proposal submissions, and upholding the highest quality standards for written materials. The incumbent would be actively engaged in working to establish long-term partnerships and strengthen relationships with existing public and private funders in the DC area as that will result in funding the long-term goals of the Trust.
Essential Job Functions:
- Design, implement and manage a three-year comprehensive, proactive development plan focused on expanding and enhancing corporate and foundation relationships by directing and coordinating activities related to obtain corporate and foundation monetary support
- Monitor funding opportunities (private, federal and local public) and bring relevant/appropriate opportunities to the attention of the President/CEO
- Conduct and/or review research to identify prospects and create strategies to match prospects’ interests to the priorities of the Trust.
Write, edit or oversee the preparation of persuasive, accurate, and grammatically and syntactically correct solicitations, proposals, case statement, reports, correspondence and other development-related communication materials, managing input from finance, programs and other relevant departments within the Trust
- Monitor proposal deadlines, prepare and edit proposals and manage proposal submissions.
Plan, administer, and implement fundraising activities such as donor receptions and events, in coordination with communications department
- Maintain a proactive, creative leadership role in the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of individual, corporate and foundation annual contributions
- Effectively respond to donor inquiries
- Generate acknowledgement for donor gifts within 48 hours of receipt; ensure that protocols for gift acknowledgements are maintained at all gift levels
- Ensure that donors receive regular and appropriate communication by making donor stewardship and timely, donor-centered, personalized communication a priority
- Develop and maintain positive and professional working relationships within the Trust and among prospective and current donors, businesses, vendors, board members and public stakeholders.
- Support the Development Committee on the Board of Directors
- Initiate opportunities for directors and selected staff to interact with corporate and foundation prospects and donors.
- Uphold the highest quality standards for written materials and communications, including mailings, annual reports, brochures and grant proposals.
- Prepare periodic reports, financial statements and records on program activities, progress and status as needed.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 10 years of increasingly responsible positions in fundraising
- Computer literate and fluent in the Microsoft Office suite
- Demonstrated experience in managing budgets; ability to work in a hands-on environment with limited resources; computer literacy and knowledge of Raiser’s Edge preferable
- Ability to effectively gain the respect and support of various constituencies, including board and staff members, donors, foundations, and civic leaders
- A record of measurable results in identifying, cultivating, and soliciting donors, corporations and foundations as well as organizing and implementing activities as annual gifts, grant-writing, corporate and foundation giving
- The incumbent must be highly entrepreneurial, resourceful and flexible, a strategist who is adept at planning, prioritizing, multi-tasking, organizing and following through, while remaining highly energetic and focused
- Must be willing and able to travel up to 15% of the time
Environmental Conditions:
Indoors in a normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes; computer use up to 4 hours at a time; work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions; work may include some infrequent evenings and weekends to meet deadline, meetings, conferences or trainings; public contact is essential to this position.

General Description:
The DC Children and Youth Investment Trust Corporation and the Children’s Aid Society Carrera Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Program are partnering to deliver an exciting and innovative program to help youth from high-risk settings develop the desire for a productive future by avoiding pregnancy and making responsible decisions. The DC Carrera Trust Program includes (7) fundamental components: Education; Employment; Self-Expression; Lifetime Individual Sports; Family Life and Sexuality Education (FLSE); Mental Health; and Medical and Dental Care. This program operates at the Arts and Technology Academy Public Charter School, working with the 5th graders during the day, Saturdays, and summer, and with the 6th, 7th and 8th graders afterschool and summer. The program will follow these young people through to high school graduation and beyond.
Specific (Essential) Responsibilities:
- Work with a group of 5th thru and 8th grade students in a manner that motivates and engages children and strengthens their academic and social skills.
- Experience providing tutoring in the area of reading and math.
- Engaging young people during activities, escort groups of youth to and from activities, ensuring young people are in their assigned rooms; assist the component leader in maintaining an appropriate learning environment and carrying out activities as requested.
- Assist Component Leaders with maintaining an appropriate learning environment to facilitate project-based component activities for up to 25-30 youth in a group setting
- Supervise and engage young people during program activities and field trips
- Chaperone groups of youth to and from program activities
- Meet with Community Organizer for regular supervision
- Participate in staff meetings, CAS trainings and component-based technical assistance
- Other duties as assigned
Education Experience Requirements:
High School Diploma/GED, some college preferred
Capabilities
- Ability to relate to youth, city youth-agency workers. Must be able to connect to youth /city youth-agency workers from varied educational, cultural, and youth work backgrounds.
- Lead component-based activities for youth in small groups
- CPR/ First Aid training desired but not required
- Experience in school-based settings highly preferred.
- Able to work well in a group as well as alone
- Minimum of one year working with school-age youth, ages 11-17 in a school/after-school setting
Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday – 1:30-6:30pm
Saturdays (1st & 3rd of each month) – 8:30am-12pm
This is a part-time, hourly-paid position.

Physical Requirements:
Capable of sitting for long periods of time. Position requires minimal lifting. May have to stretch to retrieve files from shelves. Must be capable of moving throughout the office. Must be able to stand or use a wheelchair and move to deliver various approaches for extended periods-of-time. May be asked to work out doors during extreme hot weather conditions.

- Teach weekly holistic sexuality educational groups/classes based on the Carrera FLSE curriculum, emphasizing sexual literacy, puberty, decision-making, body image, abstinence, and roles and relationship
- Provide confidential individual counseling on an on-going basis
- Refer and case conference with mental and medical health care specialists and providers to ensure comprehensive and continual care
- Conduct FLSE educational workshops for participants and parents/families
- Maintain confidential and secured recording of health counseling, case notes and profiles
- Work with the Program Director and DC Carrera Trust staff to ensure the fidelity of the program model - all (7) components and program philosophy.
- Design, plan, and facilitate a diverse menu of challenging, high-caliber and fun activities and opportunities for groups of young people within the school day, afterschool, and summer
- Collaborate with other Specialists to facilitate integrated learning across components
- Submit monthly calendar of activities and quarterly program outlines and plans
- Submit monthly reports and attendance logs
- Assist in facilitation of the bi-monthly Saturday enrichment program
- Meet with Program Director for regular supervision
- Participate in staff meetings, CAS trainings and component-based technical assistance
- Other duties as assigned
Education Experience Requirements:
- The FLSE Specialist should have a health-related Bachelor's degree and two years experience as a family life educator and/or an adolescent sexuality educator and/or counselor
- Masters preferred. S/he should be a dedicated youth work professional and have excellent engagement and communication skills with middle schoolers - verbal, writing, listening, group work, speaking and presentation.

General Description:
The Program Officer is a full time position in the Grants Management and Training Department of the DC Children and Youth Investment Corporation (the Trust). Program Officers work directly with Grantees throughout the granting cycle to include: assisting the development of Request for Proposals (RFP) and grant review process, monitoring performance and compliance of Grantees, and providing technical assistance when necessary.
The primary responsibility of the Program Officer is grantee management. Each Program Officer is given a caseload of Grantees to collaborate with during the Trust granting cycle. Program Officers are encouraged to be highly engaged with Grantees and provide assistance as well as oversight. Program Officers will conduct monitoring site visits to the Grantees they are assigned to in order to observe, first hand, the Grantees at work as well as evaluate the effectiveness of granted programming. Additionally, Program Officers represent the Trust throughout the District of Columbia and nationally at conferences, trainings, and workshops.
Specific (Essential) Responsibilities:
- Manage Grantee caseload that consists of monitoring and evaluating grantees through site visits, providing technical assistance as needed, generating grant payments, reviewing grantee reports and monitoring grantee compliance through a management information system.
- Assist in the development of the grant timeline, RFP, agreement, review and selection process and grant award process.
- Close out reporting on Grantee activities/programs.
- Answer specific program related questions from Grantees by phone/email.
- Assist in the development of grantee reports for the public.
- Conduct presentations for the public on outcomes and evaluation of grantees as well as promising practices.
- Assist in collateral development for Trust programs.
- Co-facilitate affinity groups based on Trust strategic goals.
- Participate in advocacy activities to drive OST strategies locally and nationally.
- Co-facilitate Grant Technical Assistance Sessions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education Experience Requirements:
- Minimum three years work experience in grant administration, training, facilitation and/or program implementation
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
